Development idea

Three periphery regions of Estonia, Latvia and Sweden have become locally recognised for their attractive tourism offers: Gotland is recognised for its nature tourismVentspils for sport, culture and nature tourismand the island of Saaremaa is well known for its spa. However, at present these locations are not competitive as a joint region for a wider market, as there is limited access to these regions. By providing enhanced accessibility to the joint region, new opportunities would be opened to develop sectors such as tourism and trade.

Aim of the project

The GoveSa Link project aimed at supporting the establishment of possible transportation links between the three regions of Gotland, Ventspils and Saaremaa

Main project activities

Due to unexpected challenges related to the realisation of the study on transport solutions, the project could not fulfil its objectives as planned. Consequently, the project had to be put to an end after 15 months of implementation.
