Development idea

High volumes of transit traffic, in particular, the transportation of dangerous goods, create constant risk in Southern Finland and Estonia. Chemical transportation accidents happen, and after the immediate rescue services, more efficient and cost-effective cleaning techniques would often be strongly needed.

Aim of the project

The RIMA project is improving connections within the programme area by improving the risk management actions related to chemical accidents. The project also increases the use of new, innovative cleaning (i.e. remediation) techniques, which are used to clean contaminated soils and groundwater.

Main project activities

The RIMA project has carried out joint education seminars and workshops for authorities, transport operators, private enterprises and other stakeholders operating in the field of risk management and remediation. The activities focus on producing a new, standardised method for remediation actions.
