Development idea
The food and drink industry is one of the backbones of the EU economy and has become even more important as EU enlargement has progressed. This sector boasts a large share of the total turnover of the manufacturing sector and is the leading European employer in the manufacturing sector. However, the majority of the companies are small or medium-size enterprises (SME), often with good export potential but in need of new solutions for the promotion of international trade.
Aim of the project
Pro-FIT supported food and drink (F&D) SMEs to gain foreign market entries and develop international trade.
Main project activities
Pro-FIT offered a targeted flow of information on international trade and marketing in seminars. The active participation of F&D SMEs brought insight regarding their needs and learning possibilities, enabling the project to develop and test a targeted training program for F&D SMEs on international trade and marketing. By developing a sensory laboratory, the project transmitted expertise in testing to participating SMEs. The partners refined and collected information in data banks helping companies to find information and expertise for developing products for international markets.
